Barcamp

Barcamp Scotland is an annual get-together for people working in technology who want to share and learn in an open environment.

The event features ad hoc presentations, demos and interaction from participants, with contributors signing up to speak on the day. Anyone with something to offer or with the desire to learn is welcome but all attendees must volunteer or contribute in some way to support the event.

Originating in the United States, the first BarCamps focused on early-stage web applications, and related open source technologies, social protocols, and open data formats. The first BarCamp Scotland took place in March 2007 at the University of Edinburgh's School of Informatics and was a great success.
